“65 years ago today, the head of the German military garrison in Paris, General Dietrich von Choltitz, surrendered to Allied forces after a week of street battles, thus cementing what came to be known as the Liberation of Paris.
LIFE photographer Ralph Morse was on the scene to capture not only the tension between the German and Allied forces, but also the extraordinary events that followed when Paris was free once again.” - Huffington Post

Well I don’t know much beyond the sexy images above because Detail is only in German and Google’s online translator plugin has left much to be desired. What I can decipher is that this was a recent project from students at the University of Karlsruhe. Looks like some brilliant woodwork. The second shot even reminds me of a human version of a gerbil ball. Always good to see the kids pushing the bounds of what we need in our built environment…
New York Time’s contributor, Zach Wise has created a virtual world of photographs. The project, titled, “A moment in Time” differs from similar projects because this world is made up of photographs taken at the exact same time all around the world. Go ahead give it a whirl.
I had a chance to briefly check out the Palladio exhibit at the Morgan Library. The exhibit opened April 2 and runs through August 1.. It is a pretty interesting small exhibit of handrawings, models and sketches. The drawings were provided by the Royal Institute of British Architects and have never before been on display in New York. The exhibit does a great job of making you aware of the Palladian influence here in America.
Katie Paterson went to iceland and recorded the sounds of three separate glaciers, and then pressed the dripping noises onto records made from each glacier’s melted (and then re-frozen) ice.
she also let’s us call +44 (0) 7758 225698 to listen to a glacier at all hours (not kidding). the weatherproof microphone “relays the splashes, creaks and groans as great masses of melting ice sheer off and crash into the water.”
