Opens in New York on July 9th at the IFC. Get tickets now. Also, be sure to check the list of theaters that the film is currently being shown at around the country here.
Notice the music in the trailer? It is one of my favorite bands from my hometown via Brooklyn, The National.
I have not been able to check this film out yet. Love their crowd-funding concept and the 50 min Making-Of short on their website. Have any of you seen it? What did you think?
Anyone had a chance to check this film out during its NYC opening run at Village East Cinema the past couple weeks? A few friends of mine strongly suggested it. Hopefully it will get wider distribution or at least an online option eventually.
I do not really understand what this film is about from the trailer. What is the story here? Is this about Koolhaas's new building or his life's work or his ideas of architecture and society? Seems a little bit like a promo piece for Koolhaas but I'm not sure who is financially backing this. Any know more details or has anyone seen this? IMDB says it was released in 2008.
Judging from the trailer, this looks to be an extremely intriguing doc. Reynolds seems to be a perfect, dynamic main character who is engaged with grand-scale political and professional antagonists through the institutional negligence they uphold during recent “natural” disasters. The site describes it as, “The epic story of radical Earthship eco architect Michael Reynolds, and his fight to build off-the-grid self-sufficient communities.”
Anyone seen this film yet? What did you think? He may be a perfect person to interview for our sustainability sup-plot for archiculture… he’s also an alumni of my alma mater University of Cincinnati.

If you’re a filmmaker or lover of documentaries then this new film from the National Film Board of Canada is a must see. The tagline is “33 FILMMAKERS, 14 COUNTRIES, 1 PASSION.” What a brilliant idea for a film and amazing resource to filmmakers?! The list of interviewees is staggering. You can see a bunch of small interview clips on the website which can be organized by topic such as, the genre, planning, relationships, ethics, sound, editing, or by filmmaker. Just ordered a copy of the DVD and will post more once we’ve watched.
